131647 2003-04-25 22:41:00 Umm it depends on what u mean by incompatible hardware . CD Creator is software not hardware . XP (Well PRO anyway), with some PCI cards . If you try and install PCI cards, it'll give you a data is invalid error (and will refuse to install the drivers for it, so the device will run)!

This has nothing to do with incompatible hardware . This is a bug in XP (dunno if this happens in Home, BUT does in XP PRO) . And it may also happen if you've formatted in NTFS (dunno, if it'll happen with FAT32) .

This is to do with XP NOT giving the hardware permission to enter it's data into the registry (It's a registry permission BUG) . (It's like XP saying, who are you) . You weren't invited, so you can't add yourself to the registry lol .

And this is why this data is invalid error appears on some systems, especially when you try and install the drivers for it, on XP . It used to happen on this PC I'm on, and the only thing I could do, was go into the registry to give it permission (the PCI card), and reboot, then it'd load the drivers . BUT since I've formatted this hdd, that data is invalid error has disappeared and gone for good!

131648 2003-04-26 00:36:00 ???So, shall I change? TiM©:*) (977)
131649 2003-04-26 00:40:00 TiM©:*)...

I suggest that you change IF you are rebuilding your system anyway. If you are not, then it is probably more hassle that it is worth.

I recon its worth the hassle, but I change later, too busy lately

131652 2003-04-27 00:32:00 stupid nt4 locked me out again. this on a desktop - 2nd pc to my lappie. its only a p200. have win95 as well for dualboot so i use my scanner (isa).

it was fine yesterday while emailin and surfin. then last nite i turned it on and it had a blue screen - begginning physcial memory dump. fullstop! i resetted and it did the same thing over and over again.... i also tried pressing space-bar to invoke previous successful config -- still failed.

heck i jus turned it on and it did that for no reason. b4 i did nothin except emailin and surfing........

as i have win95 on it too. am using that now. its fat16 so its safe. i also have no files to backup either. if this was ntfs with nt4 only and i had impt files. i would be stuffed!!!
