| 131482 | 2003-03-28 08:31:00 | I've scanned these posts. Dean didn't tell us his O/S.. although someone asked. The msg "it's safe to turn off your pc" as I remember is a part of Win95, and then one has to turn off a switch.. Later Windows, after selecting shut down, did their thing of shutting down applications, and automatically switching off, without any switching.. Is this a significent ? |

I believe the auto power down function is a feature of later motherboards (so it's a hardware related thing, nothing to do with Windows). The "It's now safe to turn off your PC" screen is still in Windows 98 (and maybe later versions, I'm not sure) but you don't normally see it because the motherboard powers down before it appears. | Rod J (451) | ||
