| 131670 | 2003-03-28 07:21:00 | Hi ya, I've just been browsing some computers on trademe, and 1 thing i picked up on was when some descriptions had "OS (win XP etc) included for demo purposes only" Is this allowed? Can people do this wwhne selling pc's? Because there would be alot of people that would continue to use the "demo" OS. Could someone clear this up for me? Cheers |

After 30 days the trial becomes "crippled" TradeMe sellers use it to help sell their PCs for exactly the reason you state. One OS, one License (unless you've purchased an additional one) It's very easy for someone to ghost the drive & have a "permanent" free OS. They claim it proves the comp. is in good working order, they could install linux for free if that was the case, but no-one does it as most want Windows. (& they want it for nothing) |

| 131673 | 2003-03-28 08:28:00 | The PCs would likely have come from a corporate site that had "volume licencing" from Microsoft. They pay MS according to the number of OS installed. Hence when they sell the PC via Trade Me, there is no way they want to keep paying for a licence for an item they no longer own. |
