131936 2003-03-29 07:35:00 I think I need some Proxy software for WinXP for use over my Wireless network.

They're now both connected at about 67% signal strength on average....

But, on the box it said that it didnt allow ICS over Ad-Hoc mode (What Im using coz I dont have an access point).

Would some free Proxy software on the Gateway PC fix this?

Im still wanting to be able to use MSN and ICQ though..

Any help?

Cheers

131937 2003-03-29 08:12:00 I'm using ProxyPlus (http://www.proxyplus.de) at the moment and that works reasonably well with IE, MSN and ICQ...
The thing that took me a while to figure out was that in order to access MSN through the proxy I had to setup SOCKS5 and authentication as MSN for some really strange reason didn't like using an HTTP Proxy which is a bit of a bugger!

Still, for what you get from ProxyPlus and the fact that it's free for 3 clients it's a pretty reasonable program

131938 2003-03-29 09:03:00 Well a cheap (free) simple proxy is the one from http://www.analogx.com it works great when ever I use it.

Though surely you can just bridge the connections or something and get access straight out to the net with ICS.

131939 2003-03-29 09:14:00 yeah.. Tried making a connection bridge (It was origionally being shared only on the Cabled LAN), stuff like that.. Nothing worked! Ive done networking and setting up of ICS so many times, I know it better than the back of my girlfriends palm!
*Realizes that may no be a good thing...*

;-)

And anyways, it says that when operating in Ad-Hoc mode without an Access Point, you cannot share the web, but that's okay, Im hoping that the proxy will sort that out.

Thanks :-)

I'll let you know if I run into troubles
