132196 2003-03-30 07:14:00 Hi,
I have a P2 233 with 320MB of ram (I know, overkill!), win98, each time I start up the system checks the memory 3 times, (counts the ram 3 times) then all operates normally. This is not a real problem because everything works fine, only start up time is lengthened, but I would like to know if this can be repaired/remedied...
Any thoughts?
cheers,
richard.

132197 2003-03-30 07:56:00 Sounds like it could be your "Quick Power On Self Test" has been disabled in the BIOS settings. Enter BIOS during start up by pushing DEL at the prompt and have a nosey at what the setting are. Jen C (20)
132198 2003-03-30 07:59:00 if you mean you want to reduce the boot time ie: stop the ram being checked 3 times... go into the bios ( usually don't by pressing the "del" key or "F2" ) and look in boot options and and look for something like "quick post" - enable/diable or something similar

:-)

132199 2003-04-04 21:46:00 thanks Jen C, problem solved by setting the bios "quick power on self test"
Cheers.
