2003-03-30 06:58:00 | Here's how it goes: Ive got the PC upstairs running ICS over Dial-Up, and transmitting the data to my bedroom PC over a WLAN, using a proxy server with HTTP and SOCKS5 configured. I then want my laptop (plugged into a cabled LAN with my bedroom PC) to be able to use the net too... here's a wee diagram: Gateway <WLAN (Proxy)> AMD1700 < CLAN > Laptop How can I get my laptop online? Cheers Chilling_Silence

2003-03-30 08:18:00 | Is the Laptop and AMD1700 using the same IP Address/Subnet mask as the Gateway or Proxy Server? If it is, then couldn't you just tell the Laptop the IP's and then it will use the AMD 1700 to route all it's traffic to the gateway/proxy? I don't know the likelihood of this, but it may work if your using the same subnet mask. Otherwise I suppose you could try a Port Fowarding thingy?? tell the Laptop that it's using a proxy server on the AMD1700 and the port it uses is 1234, then redirect all traffic on port 1234 upstairs to the proxy?? Comprendé? CyberChuck

2003-03-30 08:24:00 | Either go through the proxy or just go through the gateway. | -=JM=- (16) | |
2003-03-30 08:28:00 | But the laptop cant Ping the Gateway? | Chilling_Silence (9) | |

Gateway: 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0 no Gateway AMD1700: 192.168.1.2 (And 192.168.0.2 on CLAN) 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.1 Laptop: 192.168.0.3 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.2 |

2003-03-30 08:58:00 | Hi Chill, The gateway for the laptop is 192.168.0.2 192.168.1.1 is on an entirely different network

2003-03-30 23:31:00 | Have you tried the current setup with all PC's on the same network? ie Wlan 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.2 XP1700 192.168.1.3 - 192.168.1.4 Laptop With your current set-up (which I imagine is all Windows) it looks suspiciously like the XP1700 would really need to be running ICS on the 192.168.0.255 network for it all to work and I have no idea whether ICS is capable of this.

2003-03-31 01:19:00 | Ah, well... I'll give that a shot, all on the same network etc. Otherwise.. I dunno, Ive been thinking of selling the WLAN and going fully Wired again, coz I get a low transfer speeds (Two trees, two windows in the way) and somehow the youger siblings keep changing the settings all the time... the didnt do it with the CLAN coz there was not icon in the systray (Not that I couldnt remove it...). Thanks :-)
