132074 2003-03-30 01:05:00 Can someone suggest some good software for extracting music from cd's???

I have tried audiograbber and cdex... Audiograbber doesn't like my cd player, and cdex doesn't have a facility for compilation disks - ie with an artist field available for each track individually...

Basically what I need is audiograbber - but one that works with my cd player... Is there anything similar out there?

O yes, I should mention I have just upgraded the ASPI layer to the latest, and this made no difference to audiograbber - but cdex rips better now :) still doesn't support compilations tho :)

Plus, it needs to be a full release, not beta software as I work at a radio station, and need reliable software, pref free though, because we are all volunteers here - no money :)

Hope someone can help,
Craig.

132076 2003-03-30 19:56:00 I use audio catalyst almost the same as Grabber kiwibeat (304)
132077 2003-03-30 22:46:00 last time i looked you have to buy audio catalyst tho i don't know why you would want to as there are better free ones and i think audio catalyst still uses the crappy Xing mp3 codec. tweak'e (174)

Can you clarify what you mean by that please? There are options available in the Settings/File Names to specify how you want tracks named. I have the artist's name along with the song title for each track that I rip. Just wondering if we are talking about the same thing or not.

132079 2003-03-31 06:17:00 I will recomend FreeRIP (http://www.mgshareware.com/). It is a program that will start when a CD is inserted. It can rip to either .mp3 .ogg or .wav
You can play with settings, and select the quality you want to rip to. There is a DB online that have quite a few (many) CD's listed. This is for ease of ripping, in that you don't need to write out the names of the tracks you wish to rip.

You will then be able to write CD's using your burning software, and make compilations till your hearts content.
