Gorela is right; you need to change the IP on the laptop to something starting with 192.168.1 - ie, 192.168.1.4 as suggested earlier by someone else. It is because with a network address, the 255's in the subnet mask tell it what part is the network and what part is the machine, so with a subnet of 255.255.255.0 then the first three parts of the ip - 192.168.1 need to be the same and the last piece can be any different number between 1 and 254
As long as you can ping the gateway and the gateway of the laptop is set to 192.168.1.1 then it will work without any extra software (as you already have ics setup) |
