2003-04-01 00:44:00 | I use Invision Board as a forum for my website. In the admin panel, it checks ip addresses as the admin moves around, for extra security. Anyway, I keep getting logged out, because the ip seems to change. I thought maybe someone had gotten hold of my password, and was on it at the same time, but I have changed my password several times, and there is no other activity between my session. Anyway, let's say my ip is 210.55.47.173; This traces to 210.55.47.173.dial-up.xtra.co.nz (I'm hosted by xtra). In this session, my ip seems to become 203.96.111.237, which traces back to AKCF1.GGI.xtra.co.nz Any help?

2003-04-01 00:58:00 | Every time you login on to the Internet your ISP give you a different IP address Unless you have a fixed IP address you cant fix that. & Every one has a different IP address. E.g. me who is on an ADSL Internet connection: My IP address was: 210.55.230.19 Now it is: 210.55.230.63 (that is not todays IP address because I dont want to be hacked. ;) Hope this helps

2003-04-01 01:03:00 | Yes, but this happens to my without disconnecting or redialing. I think my accout has been hacked, because it is going places without me actually going there. But no matter how often I change my password, it's no good. | SpiderVenom (1412) | |

What do you mean???? Do you mean the IP address keeps changing???????? When you go to your forum??? Are you on a dial-up Internet connection???? If so do you disconnect at all????? Can you give me the address of your forum, if you dont want to post your forum URL please e-mail me at stuartw77 at hotmail dot com. :) with it. |

2003-04-01 01:32:00 | OK. I think someone has my account details. Because, the ip address my forum records keeps changing, and my location keeps changing too, without me doing anything. editor.nfscheats.com

2003-04-01 01:41:00 | If you are on adsl, then it quite possible to "apparently" have 2 IP addresses, maybe also if you are on dial up, but Im not sure about that. I,m with Paradise who have the block of numbers 202.0.32.0-202.0.47.255 to allocate to customers on adsl. ( There is a different set for dial up). My IP, allocated dynamically by them and which changes every 24 hours or so, could be 202.0.44.191 for example. Using Whois this traces back to Paradise.net and gives that block of IPs mentioned above. If I go to Gibson research, www grc.com then Shields Up will detect that IP address. BUT, if I go to http: it will say 203.97.2.242, and that traces back to Clear Communications, Auckland, and they have the small block of numbers 203.97.2.240-203.97.2.247. So apparently then, different detection systems dig down to different depths, and some are better than others.

2003-04-01 03:36:00 | Hi SpiderVenom, My better half decided to download a 50 Mb file of my server. (I was running a web server for a while.) Server logs showed without a dought that her snap.net.nz IP address changed 3 times during the course of that continuios overnight download. Traceroute showed that like Xtra, Snap was getting its bandwidth and many services through Telecom. These days Snap is getting bandwidth through telstra-clear. I don't know if they still change IP midflight. It would appear that many ISPs change customers IPs midflight for some strange reason. You are not alone. .Clueless
