132445 2003-03-31 11:30:00 Hey all. Umm, just wondering I have some movies off a CD (music) that I would really like to have just the music on a new CDR. They are in .mov (Quick Time Format if I'm not mistaken) and am wondering how to convert them. Also I am wondering (for the future) how do you convert .avi or .mpg or .mpeg to .cda or .mp3/.wav?

Any help would be greats.

Thanks to any one/every one who posts in this forum, I dont know where I would be with out it!! :)

132447 2003-03-31 11:37:00 Sorry, that dosn't really help, I found files that go from .mov to .avi but that dosn't help. :( JamesStewart (874)
132448 2003-03-31 11:41:00 convert to avi then theres heaps of free tools that can strip the sound out and convert it to whatever you want.

otherwise take a look at quicktime editing tools.

132450 2003-03-31 11:54:00 rad tools is not recommended due to it only encoding in their own codec.

i don't do much editing of quicktime as free tools are not so easy to find. quicktime pro will do the job easy enough but you will need to buy that.

if you find a free program that will edit mov (or real) please post back :)

132451 2003-03-31 12:05:00 I found Quick Time 6 Pro on Kazaa Lite. Downloading it now. Hope it works. It is 15mb's. JamesStewart (874)
132452 2003-03-31 12:06:00 **21mb's sorry. JamesStewart (874)
132453 2003-03-31 12:16:00 1) go to the link that tweake provided
2) download the following:
www.divx-digest.com
and
www.divx-digest.com
3) extract both of them to a folder in your c:\ such as c:\mov
4) put in all your movies that you wish to convert and then open up cmd or dos (depends on which os you have). At this stage it might help to rename your movs to easier filenames like 1.mov 2.mov 3.mov etc
5) in your dos/cmd prompt type cd mov and press enter. This will take you into c:\mov

There's a bit of work here:
6) Type mov2avi -?c and press enter, a listing of installed/available to use codecs will come up. Find the number that is equivalent to none. If it is 11 you can move on, if not, remember the number. For this example I'll just say its number 10.
6b) right click on mov.bat and then click edit. Find all instances of C11 and replace them with C10 (or whatever number is equivalent to none on your pc, just prefix it with C, so if 7=none, then replace C11 with C7. Save the bat file and now we can move on to the conversion.

7) Back in cmd/dos type mov.bat <input> and press enter.
So if you are converting your first file, type mov.bat 1.mov and press enter. All going well, within a short time you should have an uncompressed avi sitting in the same folder :D Repeat until all your movs are converted.

NOW

8) Download and install VirtualDub:
www.digital-digest.com

9) When you have it installed, run it and open your first uncompressed avi file (in this example you will find 1.avi sitting beside 1.mov in your c:\mov folder)
10) Go to Audio and click "Full Processing Mode", then click Audio again and click "Conversion" and make sure that all the settings are set to 44100Hz, 16bit, Stereo. Click OK.
11) Click File > Save Wav... and choose a place to save your wav files.
12) Repeat until you have saved the wavs from all your avi files
13) Burn your wav files onto a cd and enjoy

you might want to print this out for reference ;)
