132475 2003-03-31 23:29:00 Great question Timmy.
I'm sick of the racket my PCs make, Power supply, Chipset, CPU, Case, Graphics card fans, they all combine to make an annoying background racket.
I clean & oil my fans regularly but a week later they are at it again.
I've tried all sorts of different brands & types to no avail.
Has anyone got any info on what's the best?
Especially CPU fans as they seem to be the worst offenders
Cheers

132478 2003-04-01 01:43:00 if you want to put together your own kit, then you really must support local and get LiquidCC blocks:
www.liquidcc.com
Pick up an eheim waterpump from either www.coolcases.co.nz or http:
Both Dale (coolcases) and John (stylespc) are great guys to deal with, who are actually interested in hardware, modding and cooling, and are not out there to rip you off.
Then its a matter of choosing a radiator and/or a resevoir, some tubing, and you're away laughing.

However if you are unsure about putting your own gear together, look at coolcases and stylespc, you'll notice they are selling retail watercooling rigs. I have the poseidon, aquariusII and innovaset2 sitting here for review, I currently have the innovaset2 installed on my 1800+ (running at 2200+) and she's performing quite nicely. I cant really justify the price of the innovaset though, you'd get a better performing rig for at most a third of the price if you went DIY.

Out of the poseidon and the aquariusII, I would have to recommend the aquariusII as it is the most painless to setup, and performs better than the poseidon.

I can provide a lot of information and links on watercooling if you are really interested in getting into it...

132480 2003-04-01 02:39:00 cool.

First of all take a look at http://forums.overclockers.co.nz
there is a cooling forum in there with an incomplete cooling faq started by yours truely (i'll finish it someday.. maybe ;)) and a lot of discussion on watercooling. That should warm you up a bit before you move onto bigger things:
http://forums.overclockers.com.au unlike ocnz you will have to register to view ocau, once you have though, take a look through their Extreme Cooling forum, read the stickys there and take a look at some of the discussions going on. Just remember, while you are at OCAU, Cathar == GOD (as far as h20 is concerned).

Whether or not you post at either of these forums is up to you, but when you are starting to piece together your watercooling rig, you might want to start using either or both those forums for support/feedback. You can post at either and say "I'm new to watercooling, I've read x, y, z, but what do you guys recommend for a system like this: <your system specs here>, in this price range: $0-$250"

Take a read around at http://www.procooling.com/ and
Finally, I recommend you read every article here:
www.overclockers.com COOLING

After all that reading, your brain will be numb, but you should be well prepared on the technical and theoretical side of things. Then your only challenge is to put it into practice. :)

132481 2003-04-01 02:46:00 oh, and another couple of people big in the watercooling scene; BillA:
http://www.thermal-management-testing.com/
and Bladerunner:
http://www.zerofanzone.co.uk/
(you might notice that bladerunner uses a modified liquidcc waterblock on his cpu!!)
