| 133428 | 2003-04-13 01:35:00 | Stumped Badly seems to have missed one vital point: When it comes to attacking Government actions, it pays to remember that "they" is actually spelled "us" when you live in a parliamentary democracy . We choose who will govern, and implicit in that choice is acceptance of policies voted by majority for the duration of their term, subject to healthy and robust debate inside and outside of parliament of course . Following expiry of their term in office we have another opportunity to vote change, though I doubt you would see very much of that, because to secure the requisite number of votes politicians have to appeal to a broad cross-section of the community . That is why minority parties like ACT , Christan Heritage and various others of diverse persuasions never get sufficient traction to gain power . They simply do not appeal to sufficient voters because they are perceived to be either too conservative or too liberal, it is a statistical inevitability . The only way a minority can achieve power is at the point of a gun . The bottom line is, there is no point getting bitter and twisted about it, life goes on and you make your choices within the range available or go off-shore in search of utopia, though once found, it will look suspiciously like what you left behind . While big business may exercise its muscles and annoy us from time to time, that is the inalienable right of the owners/shareholders subject only to the ever decreasing constraints imposed by government . I enjoy stable and reliable service from Xtra, there is a glimmer on the horizon of a reduction in my jetstream costs, and I read that they are reviewing their "we own everything you send" policy, which was a nonsense in the first place . It never worried me as I simply don't care if they want to waste their time reading through my email to look for marketable intelligence . IMHO it was patently clear from the outset that the logistics of that exercise would be horrendous, so I figured they were looking to achieve some other goal but had the clauses written by incompetent lawyers . Lastly a bit of a puzzle here, the post following yours is down to me,well this Thomas did not write that,so how that was done I do not know. |

Although I can think of a way to fake your logon, I can't see how it could pick up your post total as well. You haven't been indulging in mind-altering substances today have you? :p Cheers Billy 8-{) :D |
