133813 2003-04-06 06:08:00 No need to import Favorites through Outlook Express. You import those from Internet Explorer.

How about a bit more info for us? Where are you trying to import the files from? Backup CD/floppy? Another networked computer? Have you just upgraded to Win XP over Win 98?

How are they disappearing? What error message do you get?

133814 2003-04-06 06:13:00 im trying to get them from a comp with win98 to another com with xp pro by e-mail but outlook express wipes then because theyre unstable? floyds (3095)
133815 2003-04-06 06:19:00 To export / import your favourites from a win98 computer to a XP computer

Insert a floppy disk in A Drive > Open Internet Explorer > File > Import/Export > Next > select Export Favourites > Next > use the Browse tab and navigate the path to your A drive > Finish.

To Import back into Internet Explorer on a different computer

Insert th floppy disk in A Drive > Open Internet Explorer > File > Import/Export > Next > select Import Favourites > Next > use the Browse tab and navigate the path to your A drive > Finish.

To save your Address Book

Open Outlook Express > insert floppy disk > click on your address book icon > File > Export > Address Book (*wab) > Save In > navigate to the Floppy disk > Save

To import the address book Open Outlook Express > insert floppy disk > click on your address book icon > File > Import > Address Book (*wab) > navigate to the Floppy disk > double click the file and follow any prompts.

Don't delete your favourites or address book until you know that the favourites and address book have successfully been imported to the new computer.

133816 2003-04-06 06:26:00 im trying to do it through e-mail because i havent a floppy drive. floyds (3095)
133817 2003-04-06 06:37:00 Ok, follow what I suggested for exporting your address book but save it to the desktop instead and the attach to a email, send to the other computer, open the message, save the attachment to your desktop and then import from the desktop file instead of the floppy.

For your favourites try creating a folder in your favourites, drag all the links you want into it, right click that folder and send to mail, at the other end save the attachment to your desktop and import from there.

Or just right click each link you want and send each one to mail, at the other computer copy and paste from the message into your favourites using the ADD option.

Probably other ways of doing it as well.

133818 2003-04-06 06:39:00 Sounds like you need to drop the security settings of OE down a notch to receive the attachments. Win XP's default is a bit stricter than Win 98.

In OE go to Options | Tools | Security Tab. If there is a tick in the box "Do not allow attachements to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" remove the tick and click OK.

Remember to take the usual virus precautions before opening other attachments.
