133916 2003-04-06 23:25:00 I have a MSI K3 Ultra MS6380E motherboard and an Athlon 2000+ CPU.
Over the weekend I noticed my comp. was running slower than usual. After a long investigation I discovered that all my cmos settings had reverted to default. Strange! I had not been in there for a couple of months.
When I tried to reset them I found that while I could change them I could not exit the page. My Esc key would not take me out of the page. Ultimately I removed the battery and gave it an hour to clean out all settings.
Replaced the battery and rebooted. No problems.Everything was set to default However I could still not exit a page. I reset everything a page at a time and exited with F10 (Save changes and exit) A slow process. My comp. is running perfectly with no problems, but Esc. still does not work in Cmos. Esc works normaly in Windows. Also I tried another keyboard, just the same.
There must be someone out there who knows more than me. Help!!

133917 2003-04-07 00:21:00 Has your battery died Jack?

It is worth a check, no matter how new. I had a replacement die inside of two weeks once.

Cheers

133918 2003-04-07 03:11:00 No a new one fitted this am. just in case. Still the same.
Do you know of a simple way I can check if my escape key is working? I can't think of any way to do it in Windows.

133919 2003-04-07 03:24:00 Quick way to check ESC key is working - Click on Start button so that Start Menu pops up then press ESC key and it should dissappear.
Check out www.msi.com.tw and see if there is a BIOS update for your board if the ESC key is working!

133920 2003-04-07 03:35:00 The start menu just sat there. Guess that means a new keyboard.
Actually I flashed my bios this am. even though i had the latest update. That didn't help.

133921 2003-04-07 03:45:00 run a program called Norton Diagnostics, it will run tests on everything, including ur keyboard, if u are really serious about finding out way ur escape dont work in CMOS :) norton diagnostics runs in DOS i think :) Jams (1051)
