1308299 2012-10-23 03:36:00 Just notice google has finally implemented a way to remove apps from the play store apps list. Great for people who want to organise their apps/get rid if useless apps that didn't fulfil their needs!

It takes a while to do each one individually but once it's done all should be good! Yay google!

1308300 2012-10-23 04:32:00 A naive question TEG - is that a new feature? I noticed it a month or so ago when I was setting up my Nexus 7 and needed to get rid of some bad choices; I hadn't noticed it before with my earlier Android device.

I agree, it is a simple way of removing useless apps, but does it clean everything out, or does it still leave bits and pieces scattered around like Windows does on my XP desktop?

1308301 2012-10-23 05:46:00 It *might* have been available on nexus devices a bit before the rest however I think what you mean is uninstalling them from the device itself, which has been around since the dawn of time. I'm not sure how "clean" it is but I'd be fairly certain that it would get everything. Android apps are just like portable .exe's, the code and resources are contained in the .apk package and any external requirements are obtained from the system or downloaded separately (mostly common with games where 300mb or so game files are stored on the SD card as opposed to in the limited app partition) Certain data is stored in the form of databases in the delvik/cache partitions. When an app is uninstalled the "apk" is removed, essentially getting rid of anything associated with the app. Perhaps some app generated files may be contained on the SD card but these are very easily found and safe to delete, even when the app is running (apps don't have and critical info on the SD cards)

Although you can easily uninstall an app actually removing it from your google account history was previously impossible. When viewing "all apps" in the market you would be confronted by a massive list of all the apps you have ever installed, some for one time use. Others for only a short amount of time. Over 2 years I have accumulated an app list of 250+ only 60 of those apps are in use today. The new feature allows you to remove the apps from this list allowing you to "clean up" a little and make the list more relevant.

Here's a screenshot to show you what I mean, the little icon above "free" wasn't there before.

1308302 2012-10-23 06:29:00 Ah, light dawns. Sorry for being a bit dense. I too have a "history" of rejected apps that still show up on my Google Play Store account, and it would be good to get rid of anything that is no longer on board. I will check it out. Thanks for the steer. John H (8)
