| 1308198 | 2012-10-22 22:07:00 | Hi Team Billy Jnr is now resident in Dubai and has obtained a Dubai cellphone number vis sim card change etc. however we are unable to dial through to him, and depending on the variations tried we get one of two messages, both effectively saying the number is not correct. His Dubai number is 0528 289 XXX and according to Telecom, the Dubai access number is 00971. Neither 00971 0528 289 XXX nor 00971 538 289 will connect, and each has a different voice message text, but essentially they both say the number is not able to be connected. I'm thinking we are barking up the wrong tree, but can't for the life of me see what alternative we should be using. We've been calling his NZ number while he was in OZ without problems and I call Australian cellphones using just 0061 followed by the cell number. The only difference I can see is that Oz has a 4 digit access code and Dubai has 5 digits. We have the same response if we add the area code 4 which I had previously overlooked i.e 00 9714 528 289 xxx or 00 9714 0528 289 xxx (I can't get rid of the formatted number that is popping up there,) it opens a skype connection!) He is calling out OK. Any ideas? Cheers Billy 8-{) :confused: |

| 1308201 | 2012-10-22 23:48:00 | Maybe Telecom are just terrible at contacting the UAE, since they list it's dialing prefix as 976 on their webpage (telecom.custhelp.com). Have you tried calling from a phone with another provider to see if you have the same issue? | inphinity (7274) | ||
