+1

BUT, our politicians are just too busy debating on subjects like gay marriages, drinking age, etc.. etc. They certainly don't have the knowledge/capability or even just don't bother to look into serious matters like this!

1307847 2012-10-20 21:27:00 I've seen another article saying two cases have now been dropped.

The RIAA's approach of charging for all the subsequent piracy of a track by others is obscene.

It's akin to trying to charge a car owner the full price of the car for each and every person that drives the car, all the way from brand new, to the day it gets crushed.

Or the insurance industry charging a car thief with the cost of ALL the thefts of cars. Fair? Not!

With a typical torrent the downloader essentially 'removes' 1.0 copies of the title, and uploads in its place 1.05 to 1.1 copies, so in terms of lost sales, the most the RIAA should be able to claim is 1.1 x the unit price of the track... about $3.50 or less, yet they're trying to go for tens of thousands.

If they want to get those lost tens of thousands, then let them chase each and every one of those tens of thousands of other downloaders.

Or better yet, put an affordable online sale/purchase system in place that does not limit the buyers ability to purchase once, and copy the track to as many of their devices as they wish, including shifts in format and media.

1307851 2012-10-21 08:35:00 it's not real music though as it's in mp3 format and sounds crap. Actually the riaa should be fined for allowing crap formats to be sold for money gary67 (56)
