1308470 2012-10-24 21:42:00 Well I've ditched all my old drives, except I do have a working 30GB one of indeterminate age in a linux box.

Reminds me of my first hard drive though, was an external hdd for an Atari ST. about the size of a small desktop computer it was a massive 32MB of storage and had to be partitioned into 3 seperate drives to avoid the ST's memory addressing limit of 16MB. I don't think I ever even half filled one partition and the thing cost me about $1K 2nd hand. Sometimes I wish I'd kept the old Atari, the style of games I played back then just don't exist these days and were a lot of fun.

1308471 2012-10-24 23:47:00 I still have a working Quantum Fireball 2.1GB IDE drive. ....Now thats a name you no longer hear ah. At least the Q Fireball was better than the Q Bigfoot. :yuck:

Really surprised how many members have old (like, really old!!) drives still laying about.

1308472 2012-10-25 00:04:00 Screw all your old hard drives, I have a Seagate with date code 9946 that appears to have been made in 2098 :p pcuser42 (130)
1308473 2012-10-25 03:43:00 I think I have like either a 250mb or 500mb drive. I've also got two 4.3gb seagate drives, a samsung 8gb, a Western Digital 8GB, Quantum Fireball 15GB (still with windows 98SE on it) two Maxtor 20GB drives, one Western Digital 40GB drive, another Dell Dimension 2400 40GB drive, an Apple 60GB drive, a Seagate 80GB drive, a dead Hitachi 120gb drive (from an old enclosure, for a time it was my main pc drive)

Also my previous System drives two 160gb drives, one Westen Digital the other Seagate. Now i've got a Seagate 1TB drive partitioned in two 500GB partitions. I'm thinking of getting another 1TB or maybe a 2TB drive this Xmas. With all the video files I have (old shows, rarities etc...) I'm always looking for more space, and I want to load my PC with Drives.

1308475 2012-10-25 05:29:00 I worked on an access control system last week, had a Windows ME machine with the config software on it. Not sure how old the hard drive was, but it can't have been recent!

Remember 'Active Desktop' and the "It is now safe to turn off your computer" screen?

I had a 4gb Bigfoot that did great service for years over a few machines - they weren't all bad :)
