I can watch the same program at 8:30 pm on the alternative channel without bothering to record it. | Bobh (5192) | ||
2012-10-26 14:33:00 | If you want to watch something better than what freeview dishes out go for Thriller a old British made TV series, and the weakend with free to air is one big wash out. en.wikipedia.org(UK_TV_series) A bit like The Avengers in a way but does not have any of the kinky humor at the start & finish of the show. Each show uses a completes 'new' set of actors/actress, Unlike many TV shows such as Dangerman, The avengers, Man from UNCLE etc you know that the main actors/actress will come out alive at the end to do next weeks episode. There are some very good well done stories unlike The Avengers could almost be taken for true stories. The first story I watched was Lady Killer with Barbara Felton Agent 99 from Get Smart, all the way through it was suspense, then I cracked up laughing right at the end, but none of the other show were so funny just B***y good entertainment compared to what you get on free to air TV these days. With the 'weakend' on us again is there any way of watching this programme online?

2012-10-26 19:03:00 | With the 'weakend' on us again is there any way of watching this programme online? I would like to watch UK free to air TV online, about 10 years ago I knew a joker who came from UK, he thought UK TV was rubbish until he saw NZ TV, now he thinks UK is very good . If you go on line and see the program guide for UK TV it does look a tiny bit better than what you get here, or at least it did when I checked it out on my cell phone just after I got it and was wondering what to do with it at lunch time at work a couple of years ago . Since then NZ TV has gone from "worth watching now and again" to "FORGET IT" nobody at work talks about the night before on TV like they did twenty years ago . As for Who the hell is "Theodore Vaughan Spotter" when he's at home? I asked someone a few weeks ago after he gave a laugh , he said get it T V spotter or TV watcher, I think I still have the head ache or Im confused or something . Interesting to read the comments on Dana Rigg on Internet . wikipedia . org/wiki/Diana_Rigg" target="_blank">en . wikipedia . org and how she got upset how she was paid less than the camera man, it says a lot for the gutless part of the movie industry .

2012-10-26 20:14:00 | Ok then ------ More ------ I was thinking of getting the complete series of Avengers out from the UK as it does not seem to be available on the NZ shops Anybody like me who has given up on TV . One good DVD series is Alfred Hitchcock presents all done in half hour monochrome, some of the stories are rubbish, but the good ones really make up for it . (maybe not as good as Thriller where there is only one story that lost the plot, and they are all 50 minutes long in color) I got the first two series Alfred Hitchcock presents out from the America and refused to get anymore unless they came out in our NZ region 4, as who would want to buy USA region 1 second hand? I thought it only went to series four, then was delighted when I found series 5 & 6 was available in the shops in Auckland (via internet) a few months ago while I was looking for something else . Dick York (husband of bewitched TV series) does a great job getting his $200 back at the end of Alfred Hitchcock presents series four . On one of the stories (maybe earlier series) a couple get stopped for speeding, the sheriff breaks the headlights with his batten and say Oh dear this not right for warrant of fitness then adds I will have to give you a ticket just about the only line the wife says until the end is forget it dear you will only make matter worse when the husband tries to stand up for himself . I gave up on the story half way through, then thought ' Alfred Hitchcock OK lets watch the rest', just before the end, I look at the DVD player time with only a minute to go as the couple drive off into the sun set, and I think 'have I missed something here, what a boring story' only to get a Alfred Hitchcock finish a few seconds latter . (BTW . the DOS people should know the second line)

2012-10-29 16:42:00 | Then there is HEARTBEAT on dvd what a incredible series that was about 372 episodes in 18 series, like Coronation Street but 10 times better, Heartbeat has two stories with each episode plus the long running theme story like Coronation Street does . I can not believe that TVNZ shoved it on at 1am on Sunday morning on the last series, but all you get now on TV1 is food food food food food food food, then along came the shopping station one Monday night at 7pm I thought I would have a peep, within a few seconds I heard that magic four letter word F**D, so now it is deleted off my station list, it still shows up on the electronic program guide, but as I step through the station the TV steps over it, I am not putting up with any of that *oo* crap from Shopping station day one . (even the "heartbeat" music CD's series from the UK are worth a look if you like music from that era . you get music you might not of heard in NZ) The modern TV program Su*** like it is taken with a high class cell phone or on a ship rolling in the sea, I could understand if the cameraman was chasing the police down a allay who was chasing a villain, but not a TV series it looks so cheap, Then they cut so many times per minute it is unbelievable, and they shove the camera right into the actors/actress face like they are screening the series in the local public toilets and the producer does not want you to see the background, look at the great Alfred Hitchcock movies (and the not so great movies) it never had any of the poor qualities .

2012-10-30 17:21:00 | I.C. Trev We have this week on UK-TV pay, TV Heartbeat "The Third Man" half way through series 12 just been released on DVD in the UK, I think I can hold off until it appears in the NZ shops, series 11 just came in the mail yesterday from the UK, I should of waited until it came out in the NZ shops. I would not waste my money on pay-tv at least if you spend the equivalent money on DVD you can watch it again at a latter date (or sell it off second hand) So far I have seen all the episodes of Heartbeat up to the end of series 10, there is not one program I can remember from watching when it was on on TV, mind you when it was on TV I missed most of the episodes.
