1308056 2012-10-22 20:22:00 You actually don't need *any* AV software.

The Play Store has what's known as "Bouncer" which stops anything that those AV apps can pick up. The only time you'd need AV software is if you're doing installs from unknown sources.

Probably best to leave the AV off then? Nick G above your post reckons it would slow it down.

1308058 2012-10-23 00:05:00 Correct. Leave it off, it *will* slow down the phone, though just by how YMMV. Chilling_Silence (9)

So where does one get apps from?

The manual for your device should tell you that.

1308062 2012-10-23 02:05:00 The Play Store Does the Play Store work with his device Chill? It doesn't work with my daughter's android e reader. She has to use GetJar.

My point is that this OP doesn't seem to have done any research of his own and is just expecting everyone to give him the answers he should be finding out according to HIS needs, not our guesses.

Your e-reader will have been forked so badly play won't work, like the kindle fire which runs android and had been forked so badly it uses its own app store. The Y100 is not like that, the play store will work just fine on it. Due to the devices screen resolution, some apps won't work (most of the time they don't show up in search results if this is true), but the play store itself will work.

1308064 2012-10-23 04:27:00 Your e-reader will have been forked so badly play won't work (snip) As I said, "my daughter's android e reader", not mine. Mine is a Nexus 7, which is fine with Play Store.

I still feel irritated by the OP who seems to be lying back expecting us to tickle his tummy.

I am merely trying to find how to access things. Some of you on here have used Android alot longer than I have. How am to learn anything if I can't ask a question on a few things about Android?
