1307762 2012-10-23 01:07:00 This is more realistic a view on how we may get about in the future.

1307763 2012-10-23 03:09:00 They'll figure something out, after a lot of false starts and dead ends but it's all just treating the symptoms. We already have the technology to go completely renewable and eco friendly but if we tried to implement it we would fail because the pouplation is just too large to be supplied with current "green" techonology and still growing.

The whole system in all aspects is geared towards growth with no thought to the fact that we live in a finite space. Sooner or later the growth hits a wall and disaster happens, it's inevitible. What we should be doing is looking to stabilise or reduce the worlds population so we can then work on sustaining it. Trying to be sustainable with an ever growing population is playing an endless game of catch-up and just doesn't work.

If there were less people we would need less resources, why is this point so seldom brought up when referring to the fuel crisis and other problems?
so sorry, a little bit of a rant off on a tangent...

A bit more on topic, there is a lot of interesting research going on in the field of transport and energy sources.
Somewhere I saw a really interesting Idea where they had made a fuel that could be pumped like a liquid but was made up of some kind of charged particles that were part of a battery. To "recharge" the battery you pumped out the old fuel and pumped in new, the used fuel could then be recharged and recycled.

Sterilization ? Euthanasia ? Deadly unstoppable virus? Enforced contraception and one child families ? It isn't the done thing to mention things like this, either get accused of being a Nazi, or the Catholic church gets hot under the collar, so let us all carry on as if nothing is wrong and wait for nature to cull the mass overpopulation, like in all the doomsday apocalyptic movies and TV programs around these days.

Nothing for you to worry about Terr, have a nap.

No need for all that stuff . Flogging should be adequate if judiciously used as an aide memoire to complement the rewards of bananas for the odd occasion when they get it right . ;)

Nature in the end will find some way to stuff the scientists up. It didn't work with HIV or bird flue but something will come along like the black plague that will level the playing field.

1307769 2012-10-23 20:59:00 Very interesting Cic, so far i cannot see a down side to the nitrogen fuel except the price will rise significantly once the car companies run with it and it is expensive to produce ie not just joe can make pure liquid nitrogen

Where is Joe? Anyone heard from him lately?
