| 134510 | 2003-04-09 04:11:00 | "Help" please My office laser printer is 'on the blink' - in particular , part way thru printing a few one page reports it stops outputting and the red "Alarm" light flashes which acording to the VERY brief explaination I have ben able to find (via the cd !) is that either a 'door' is open or there is a printing error (Great !) I've tried turning it off, pausing, and turning it on but still the same. I also took out the cartridge first and gave it the usual gentle swish back and forth and corona wire wipe = still nogo Any thoughts on the subject would be appreciated |

| 134511 | 2003-04-09 07:05:00 | according to the manual, which you can download from www.brother.com, if the alarm light only flashes, then the fault can be viewed on screen or printed out. If all the lights come on and then just the alarm light flashes, then it has a rom fault and needs a service. regards, andy. |

| 134512 | 2003-04-09 09:14:00 | 1240s are a good solid reliable printer but they are prone to spit the dummy over the smallest foreign object any where in the paper path. We are talking about a piece of paper possibly as small as 1cm x 1cm (or even smaller) I have 14 of these suckers to deal with on a regular basis and this is usally the problem. Check the rollers minutely and rotate them after removing the toner, drop the back flap and with a strong torch have a look in there. If it is u will probably need good tweezers( I begged a pair of locking stainless steel tweezers with serrated teeth off our dental nurse since I do it so often). Nine times out of ten this is usually the problem. |

| 134514 | 2003-04-09 22:15:00 | Hissy Fit is over = I slammed closed the door to the cartridge bay after it fell open as I was about to follow the thoughts of minos#2 Methinks I didn't properly close it after giving the cartridge a swish and the corona wire a wipe ........... I've printed out your replies for future reference, though andy I cannot get to grips with the www.brother.com site (it leaves me cold; frigid in fact) Where did you find the manual on that site, please ? |
