134415 2003-04-08 14:59:00 Having a read through the FAQ at the official site...

arning: could not find wine config [Drive x] entry for current working directory /mnt/cdrom; starting in windows directory.
Invalid path 'multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\Windows' for windows directory: does not exist
Perhaps you have not properly edited or created your Wine configuration file.
This is (supposed to be) '/home/powaki/.wine/config'

what does this mean?

134416 2003-04-08 15:12:00 Sorry, thats a bit hard to understand...heres what I did in the console, like the faq told me..

[powaki@localhost cdrom]$ ls
anet.inf* autorun.inf* demo32.exe* ds32.dll* padfile.dat* setup.exe*
AUTORUN.EXE* AUTORUN.INI* dr2.dbd* Editor/ Setup/ setup.ini*
[powaki@localhost cdrom]$ $winex Setup.exe
Warning: could not find wine config [Drive x] entry for current working directory /mnt/cdrom; starting in windows directory.

134417 2003-04-08 21:33:00 You have correctly installed the rpm right?
su -

rpm -ivh winex.2.2-2.1386.rpm

Then, change into the directory, like /mnt/cdrom

winex Setup.EXE (Being case sensitive can be a pain when windows users make the files with different capitalisations!)

And you should be peachy!

What WineX does is creates a folder in the root's home directory called transgaming_drive
Then itemulates a C:\ Drive in there, with the My Document, Prgoram Files, and Windows direcories!

Get back if you still have problems :-)

Cheers

134418 2003-04-10 00:21:00 Ah I got it installed alright. First time I did it I double-clicked on the rpm file and it seemed to install fine with the Mandrake Package Manager.

But yea it wouldn't run so I did what you said Chilling, and typed that in the console. The winex website didn't have that "-ivh" bit in there, it had something else and it the website was wrong!

So now its running fine.

I tried installing a few games however and they both freeze up on install..

Half Life for example, gets to the very end of the install and freezes completely. Dark Reign 2 freezes at the start. I'm pretty sure half life is supported, it is quite popular, so I'm wondering whats going on??

134420 2003-04-10 08:17:00 Goto the homepage and see if the game is supported.. Ive played games that arent listed there mind you... Half-Life, I'll give that a shot later next week.

I have played Quake 2 very fine though :-)
