134758 2003-04-10 02:18:00 I've got a picture i want to frame..
and knowing that if i stretch the picture u actually get it all squarey and pixils are more visualable..."distorting the picture"

I wanna print it as it is..coz its like perfect and all..but i wanna know how do i find out the size of the picture b4 i print it so i know what size frame i need to go after

also...
if stretching it actually distorts the picture..what about shrinking it? does it wreck it?...

134759 2003-04-10 02:25:00 I've had to do a similar thing and I used an image program called IrfanView, available for free from download.com and some PC World CDs I think.

I had the pic I wanted and under it's "re-size" option it had the ability to re-size it to my measurements in cm or inches - useful if you want to fit it to a frame you already have.

If you make the picture you have larger then depending on it's dpi (dots per inch) rating it will become pixilated as you stated, but making it smaller wont do any harm.

Try importing the picture to MS Publisher or Word if you have them, Publisher will show you it's size (un-changed) in relation to an A4 page.

134761 2003-04-10 02:40:00 If you paste your image into paint, and go image > attributes, you can change it from pixels to cm which will tell you it's dimensions in cm!! promethius (1998)
134762 2003-04-10 02:41:00 ...you can also change it to inches. promethius (1998)
134763 2003-04-10 03:15:00 Most relevant software should have a facility for resizing a picture without distorting it horizontally or vertically.

How pixellated it becomes (on enlarging) depends partly on software and partly on the definition (or dpi equiv) of the original.
