134656 2003-04-09 12:57:00 Your TV card will have to have the right chip set for the sky software to work.

i can't get the sky software to work with my card.(bugger)

134657 2003-04-09 13:33:00 I have almost managed to decode sky with a flyvideo 2000 card with exotv. It works for a second or two then scrambles for another few seconds before it is of a viewable standard again. I have had no luck getting hvcplus to work with this card which I have heard of other people having success with. Jim T (3571)

Dude - Ive started a PF1 fad :D ;-)

Your PC anyways is more than fine for running it, and most should come with capturing capabilities.

As for Sky, the best I get is Prime, that's it :(

134661 2003-04-10 00:42:00 What are the quality of these cards you have?? Can you watch tv on your Comp at fullscreen high resolution???

I remember trying 3FlyVideo Cards a few years ago, 98,2000 and 2000Pro and all were equally useless and were over $300. I couldnt even get a picture it was that bad.

134662 2003-04-10 01:58:00 I run a Flyvideo 98 card in an XP 2 GHz system.

Runs fine, but full screen resolution is dissapointing compared to a real TV. I never use it full screen.
They are fussy about video cards, as to how well they run at lower speed CPU's it seems.

In a 667 MHz system I could not run at full screen, as overlay wouldnt work.

134663 2003-04-10 02:13:00 I had a WinFast TV 2000 XP Deluxe in my system for a few months, bought for $100 new from a local store in Newmarket (and sold for $130 on TradeMe.co.nz - go figure!) and I liked it, however I found I used it 90% of the time to listen to FM radio (could get all NZ stations crystal clear) and 10% to watch TV! Blinkin' expensive radio.

TV picture quality was pretty poor except for TV 2 which was very clear. I think it was because I had it plugged into an arial that was sitting on top of my machine's workstation/desk thing so intereference was probably an issue there.

I played around with capturing TV - I recorded an episode of Friends and cringed when I saw that the .mpeg file took almost 1Gb of HDD space. I then watched it picture-in-picture with live TV in the corner which impressed the girlfriend but I wasn't a fan of the quality. Full-screen was just a no-no (1280x1024x32 on a 19" CRT), a quarter of the screen was ok. Think of the quality as a program you taped onto VCR played back... pretty grainy and faded mono sound.

I had to watch a DVD to cheer me up.

I do remember with fondness one night I had to grab an update off the net and watched The X-Files in the corner while surfing at the same time. Usefull TV Tuner card moment indeed.

I liked to listen to the radio while surfing the net, but the ads reminded me of why I have mp3s on my machine and CDs in the car, so I ended up selling it to free up the PCI slot and any resources it was using in my quest for gaming excellence =)

Oh, I should mention it came with some good software that I used to capture camcorder footage with, but other than that it was just a toy I used every once-in-a-while.
