135290 2003-04-12 09:20:00 Hello All,

Help required, I'm trying to find the onboard Video driver for a Gateway G6-400C running an Intel motherboard with a Celeron 400MHz CPU.

If anyone knows from experience, or actually is running one of these machines, I would be pleased if you could let me know what the name of the driver required is.

I have searched the Gateway site (it is hopeless trying to identify anything there)

Any help appreciated.

Regards

135291 2003-04-12 09:34:00 I think they use a basic Intel chipset, from what information is available on Google.

here (www.intel.com) is a link to the Intel driver page for all the earlier chipsets and Operating System variants

Sadly already tried those no go.
I tried searching for reviews of this PC (found a review from PCWorld NZ) their test machine had an ATI onboard AGP, tried the drivers for that also no go.
The Problem is made worse by the fact the PC is of 1999 vintage and has obviously run rather hot at times as most of the identifying writing on the onboard chipsets is no longer visible (luckily managed to decipher the sound)

135293 2003-04-12 10:00:00 One would assume an Intel Mobo would use Intel chipsets, but who can tell these days? godfather (25)
135294 2003-04-12 10:39:00 Problem Solved,

Yes it was the ATI Pro 128 8MB AGP driver that was required, the version supplied off the Gateway US site was not correct (very hard to find the correct one there, as the method used to ID: the drivers defies logic)

Tip: if you need Gateway PC drivers, go to the Gateway UK site, this site is far superior in layout and is fairly easy to at least identify the individual component drivers, which cuts down on likely candidates drastically.

135295 2003-04-12 10:52:00 This found on Google:-

Like a number of Celeron-366 systems we've seen, the G6-400c comes loaded with high-end features . Gateway equipped our G6-400c with 64MB of RAM, a 10 . 2GB hard drive, an integrated 4MB ATI 3D Rage Pro Turbo AGP chip for graphics, a 17-inch monitor, a 4 . 8X Toshiba DVD-ROM drive, a U . S . Robotics V . 90 modem, and integrated Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audio PCI 64V sound . The included three-piece Boston Acoustics BA635 speakers provide attractive high and midlevel tones; and though the subwoofer isn't strong enough to supply adequate audio for presentations in large rooms, it should be fine for the average living room or home office .

From a PCWorld review!! :-)

Apparently it's a 4MB ATI 3D Rage integrated AGP .

This from Gateway:-
Video Driver Installation - Part Number 7507001, Driver Version 5 . 40 . 1, Gateway Website Only

This driver is located only on the Gateway Web site . It is not available on disk or on CD . The version number is 5 . 40 . 1 .
The driver is located at . gateway . com/support/product/drivers/video/3dproturboa . shtml . " target="_blank">www . gateway . com To download the driver, click 7507001 . exe . The download views the location of the driver and then prompts for a download destination location . Specify where you want it to download the driver on your hard disk . File 7507001 . exe downloads to the hard disk . Double-click the file to extract it . Continue with the driver installation based on the video card or motherboard being used in the computer .

I just tried the above link and the page has been moved . At least you know what file you are looking for .

The other option is that this Gateway model comes with a restore CD and the drivers are on there as well .

You don't say what operating system you want the driver for but I am assuming Win 95/98 .

I hope this helps .
