135277 2003-04-12 09:07:00 We have 3 computers on the home network, and I've followed the networking faq on all of them. They can all see each other in network neighbourhood and ping each other:

The XP machine can get files off the Win2K and Win95 machine.

The Win2K machine can get files off the WinXP and Win95 machine.

The Win95 machine can't access any files off the XP or Win2K machine at all without a password. And this is a problem because I want to transfer lots of files off this machine onto the Win2K one.

When I click on the connection to the XP & Win2K machines in Network Neighbourhood (from the Win95) is comes up with a dialogue box saying:

------------------------
Enter Network Password

-You must supply a password to make this connection

Resource \\ALKESH\IPC$
Password: [__________] (i can enter it in here)

[x] Save this password in your password list.
----------------------

I have no idea what the network password is. I could think of a few, but they don't work. It comes up with that everytime I try to connect...

Ideas people???

Cheers,
PôWâ

135278 2003-04-12 09:15:00 I came across this sometimes when setting up Samba. You will probably find that you need to set up a user account on the server with the same user/pass as the client trying to access it.

Hope that works :)

135279 2003-04-12 09:32:00 When you click onto Network Neighborhood from the desktop can you see "that" computer in there?

I found that is the first step in success to networking computers

135281 2003-04-12 16:59:00 Ahh great stuff Heni, I can now access the Xp and 2000 machines from the Win95. Someone mentioned I might need the guest accounts, but I forgot about it and couldn't figure out why I would need them!

So Cheers! :D
