135246 2003-04-12 08:13:00 Is there a reasonably straightforward way to create icons from one's own clipart using the resources readily available in W98SE and Word 2000 ?

Thanks for any help

I think you have to save the clipart as a bitmap (.bmp). Open the clipart in Paint and try saving it there as a bitmap.

135248 2003-04-12 09:08:00 Icons need to have an *.ico extension so I don't think you will be able to create your own using Word. You should, however, be able to find an icon creating program from the internet that will allow you to create icons from your clipart. Do a search in Google and have a look at what is on offer. 135249 2003-04-12 09:15:00 It is much easier to use a program like IconForge. I think there has been a trial shareware version on PC World CDs, but there are many icon making programs, including some freeware.
Allowable icon sizes are 16x16, 32x32, 64x64 pixels (at least with Win98), I have a feeling icons may be a bit different in XP.
