135104 2003-04-11 22:07:00 Well here I am at work on a Saturday, ready to upgrade our server from win 2000 pro to win 2000 server...but, the install prog says I can't do this?

Is it right? Surely (!) this is an upgrade path? I've searched the M$ website thoroughly but it doesn't mention anywhere that you can't do this, in fact it only mentions upgrade from NT to 2000 server, but man, surely this can be done?

Yeah I know shuold have checked it out first, but (wrongly!) naturally assumed that this just wouldn't be an issue...

135105 2003-04-11 22:35:00 Id say that because it is a server PC, instability can result from upgrades, so it would honestly be better for you if you were to start with a clean slate. Its a server so you've surely got two partitions (It is usually a good practise to keep just the OS on the primary HDD/Partition and have everything else on a second one... Dunno why, but it makes sense) so have a quick backup, re-install, and start afresh would be the best advice I can give :-) Chilling_Silence (9)

Yeah I realise fresh install best but we have serveral database programs which are an absolute pig to setup, not to mention a call logging program from Oz which requires a new (expensive) registration key everytime you replace the HD, or reinstall etc...

But, dammit, looking at what I need to to do right now to format and install new...going to be a longggg weekend....where's my *big* coffee cup.

Thanks for the advice.
