135013 2003-04-11 05:13:00 Time for a clean out and a fresh start. I have a win 98 boot floppy and the Win 98SE CD which came with the computer, but no reg key. The OEM asserts that the reg key was with the disk. I assert that I never ever had it - remiss of me not to have checked at the time.

The OEM says that he cannot help, but suggests that I check for the key in the registry. Although I seem to remember a similar exercise once before in Win 95, I've looked in he obvious places but can't see it.

Can anyone suggest where in the registry this information might be. Many thanks...

135014 2003-04-11 05:30:00 If you start any page in the Control panel and do Help/About Windows, it gives the key. Does 98SE use the funny non-numeric 25 character thing whichj is [b]not[p/b] the registration number?

If it contains the "OEM" part, I think you mustn't enter that ... It's like that in W95, anyway.

135015 2003-04-11 05:30:00 This is where you will find the productkey, ID, and related info using Regedit.exe:

KKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-Software-Microsoft-Widows-CurrentVersion

When the CurrentVersion "folder" is open the data is in the right hand pane.
