135138 2003-04-12 04:19:00 I have noticed that all these Armageddon events are held either in Auckland or Wellington . Have they got something againest the South Island?
Or do they think that we South Islanders are so rich we can afford to travel to the North Island.

I would love to go to one of these events but it is hard to justify the several hundred dollars (travel and accommodation) needed to go.

Any other South Islanders out there agree?

In other words. The break-even factor

135140 2003-04-12 14:21:00 yep.. its like lans.. you've got a lot of great lan communities going in the south island, i'm even attending the upcoming L3 (www.l3.net.nz) easter event in chch, but has the south island really ever had a significantly HUGE lan? nope. The last two big ones i've been to have been in auckland - A3 - 500 people, and Equinox - 700. Chch, while having the locales to support such a big lan, just does not have the geek population to support it (well it does, but try getting them all to commit... your average student geek just cant afford it) Remember that auckland by itself has a third of NZ's population.. so it does come down to distribution of populous. whetu (237)
