135061 2003-04-11 15:25:00 I have the option of buying a 3month old Geforce4mx 64mbDDR ram with 8x AGP for $70 off a friend.

I dunno if thats a good deal or not, but the card is miles better than my GF2mx200 32mb??

Anyway main question, is this card going to work in my computer?? My computer has only 4xAGP motherboard, but the card is 8xAGP. Is this going to make a difference?

Thanks,
PôWâ

135062 2003-04-11 15:34:00 My current computer stats:

Athlon 1.1Ghz, 384mb Kingston PC133ram, GF2mx200 32mb, CT-7AIA5/AIA5E Mainboard from Chaintech.

135063 2003-04-11 22:23:00 Yeah, it should be sweet - you can set most cards to slow down the interface.. I can set my GF 4 MS 440SE-T to 1x, 2x, or what its currently at - 4x!

it should be in the display properties if you get the latest detonators :-)

And yes, I think its a pretty good deal, considering you can still sell your other card on trademe!

135064 2003-04-12 04:46:00 Are you absolutely positive about this? :) I kinda don't want to waste my money hehe. Anyone discovered a site with some concrete evidence on this topic? PoWa (203)
135065 2003-04-12 06:27:00 Yes that definately works. You are also getting a good deal off your mate, as you could probably sell your card for at least that much on Trademe anyway.

Hope this helps,
Ash

135066 2003-04-12 06:30:00 it'll definately work, as there arent many 8x agp enabled mobos out there yet. Vid cards have always been made to be as compatible with mobos as possible, so that vid card will be backwards compatible with just about any agp slot there is.. that way manufacturers can actually widen their profitability. just biff the card in, it'll run at 4x automatically whetu (237)
135067 2003-04-12 07:20:00 Sounds great...there won't be a problem with voltages or anything?? PoWa (203)
