| 135445 | 2003-04-13 09:06:00 | My network between my WinXP Home machine and my Win98SE computer has been working for a while. However, one problem which I can't fix is the fact that it does not want to share my printer, which is connected to my WinXP machine (and shared). I've tried unsharing it... then resharing it again, but the Win98 machine still doesn't think it's there. It has worked in the past (about a year ago), but then it stopped working. I've had a look at the network settings, and nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. Any suggestions? |

| 135446 | 2003-04-13 09:17:00 | I have found that problems with MSWindows network printers like this are best fixed (after double checking that everything is set up correctly) by uninstalling the driver and reinstalling. | JohnD (509) | ||

| 135448 | 2003-04-13 10:37:00 | Are the printer drivers still installed on both machines? I share three printers on a W98 box with three W2K boxes no problem, but the drivers have to be present on all four. That's 12 installs! I'm probably preaching to the converted here. :8} Cheers Billy 8-{) |

Haven't tried disabling the firewall, cos it applies only to the Internet connection . I had a look at installing the drivers for other OS's, but it doesn't seem relevant . I used to be able to share the printer, go to the Win98 computer, Add the printer and install the applicable drivers . I'll have a go at reinstalling the driver though . |

My printer (connected via a print server) will suddenly decide not to work if I enable the firewall, but not always immediately . Your mileage may vary of course . |
