You'd be almost guaranteed to make back double what it cost you, though no doubt, you would receive attacks from people who are good-willed (I'm not saying you aren't) ;). As said, there is nothing really wrong with your current computer. AGP8x does not currently offer enough benefits to consider buying a new mobo. And even buying an AGP8x graphics card... well, within a few months, the technology used on it would already be out of date. Take a look at the ATI Radeon 9700 - supports DirectX 9.0, but DirectX 9.1 was announced to be under development before the Radeon 9700 was released! Taking your RAM up to 1GB would be nice, but 512MB is extremely suffice to suit the things you could do on your computer. |

| 135524 | 2003-04-14 03:20:00 | As for not being able to get a decent graphics card... why not pick up a GeForce 4 Ti4600?? Those were designed with 4X AGP in mind... God only knows why you would need anything more powerful... then again, even a Geforce 3 would be better than the TNT currently. My advice, keep the box (worth prob less than $1000 because of the graphics card) and upgrade vid card and ram. Lo. |

Definitely go for an up to date motherboard (one with at least 8x AGP, USB2.0, plenty of PCI slots and definitely go for one that can have at least 3 ram slots). Oh and a power supply with lots of cables is good too. Otherwise you might end up like me (no power cables spare and I've only got 2cd drives, hard drive, and floppy). Then stick a GF4 FX in there and you'll be set up for a very long time. |

| 135527 | 2003-04-18 02:28:00 | hmmmm powa, why the hell would you wreck a semi-decent machine with a GF Fx, they arn't that great. 1) the 9700pro runs better 2) the fan on it is about 58 db, which WILL drive anyone crazy! Also if you want more molex power cable get a spliiter from dse for quite cheap... but only if your PSU is relativly good. - David SY - i remember when 2.53ghz chips were over $1000... just the chip that is. |

| 135529 | 2003-04-18 03:56:00 | you show me a computer game that NEEDS 8x and i'll eat my hat. You'd be best off getting yourself a new videocard and thats it. Why do you need a new soundcard? If your a music maker i can understand, otherwise its a waste of time. |

| 135532 | 2003-04-19 09:15:00 | The puter described in the first post could be built brand new for 2 grand. As fas as 8xagp? Current cards can"t use that much bandwidth,as far as i know they cant max out 4x. At this stage 8x is a marketing gimmick. Tragic to see it working so well |
