135327 2003-04-12 23:26:00 Anyone know anything about MultiProxy (http://www.multiproxy.com)?

Just discovered it on Google today, and thought that, perhaps, it actually sounded really good. From the sounds of it, it's quite good, but I want some feedback if possible.

135329 2003-04-13 01:45:00 I've had it for ages, but have given up on it as non of the proxies in the list you can download seem to work now. It may be just my particular set up though. It used to work ok, so I'd say just try it. It is free after all. Terry Porritt (14)
135330 2003-04-13 04:27:00 I tried it not long ago. Doesn't work for me at all for some reason. Maybe proxomitron might work?? PoWa (203)

135333 2003-04-13 23:39:00 From first glance it looks like a good idea, but the app is limited in that it should allow you to add your own anon proxy list. Komodo (2898)
135334 2003-04-14 02:34:00 Ah well, I'm not sure if I'll use it. Doesn't seem that it works as a local proxy, but rather sends your data through public proxies.

And, I have a comment about Proxomitron. While many people say it is incredibly good... I don't really think so. Take it's ad blocking. I couldn't figure out how to remove the little red "[ad]" text it replaced ads with. In fact, browsing PC World without ads is nice. But I don't use Proxomitron, I used the tool in Spybot S&D to add a nice big list of "bad" sites and tell them to look in 127.0.0.1. Means I can browse pretty much ad free, and it was far easier than the Proxomitron method.
And then there's the looks. I know, that as a proxy, you probably don't really care much about what it loks like... but I prefer it without any textures used as the background. I would also like it if it could be installed as a service, and if you could disable the little system tray icon without closing the application.
It should also be more user friendly. The majority of the controls are for more advanced users who know the language that they use to replace/filter content.

As for me, I'm currently fine with Proxy+ (http://www.proxyplus.cz). Works fine, is user friendly, and does it's job well. Allows for far more control than Proxomitron over the program itself via a simple, web-accessed, control page. And, while the trial only allows for three simultaneous users, two email accounts, and 1MB of cache, it is fully functional, doesn't expire, and, if used on a home network where you don't have more than three computers... it works fine.
