135880 2003-04-15 04:23:00 (win98se) i usually use shift+del to delete files, but i noticed today that theres no more confirmation dialog box (i noticed it when i was doing a 'stupid' delete), ive checked the settings under right-click > properties on the recycle bin, but everything is set right (a tick is in the 'Display delete confirmation dialog box')

135881 2003-04-15 04:35:00 I thought that the idea of shift/delete is that you are quite sure, so a confirmation would be redundant (and annoying: "Yes, I'm bloody sure, stupid machine" X-( )

Used all the time it will cause the "Oh, excrement, I shouldn't have been sure :_| feeling occasionally.

135882 2003-04-15 05:36:00 I'm not entirely sure how the ****+del works but I do know that you shouldn't use it.

On my system here (XP Pro) it seems to be that it will bypass the recycle bin. Though I'm sure I've heard of it not putting up the confirmation box as well.

Now that makes two people from the forums that have been done by that in recent times.

Graham's right, its basically saying to the PC:
"Coz I can be bothered holding down **** while pressing Del (Or clicking it for that matter, both work) then I dont want a confirmation Dialog box, coz me holding down Shift is my way of telling you that I know what Im doing.. so hurry up and do it"

:D

Hope this helps

135885 2003-04-15 06:36:00 i know what it does, but i see it as 'im completely sure i want to delete these, thanks for checking with me windows',

looks like ill just have to do the regular 'del' key only > empty recycle bin :_|
