135668 2003-04-14 07:08:00 Has anyone bought one of these? If so, any problems? When I read the description(s), they seemed really good, but I'm suspicious about the quality... Jack Wass (2351)
135669 2003-04-14 07:32:00 I too was interested in one of these and inquired from a retailer with who I have a very good working relationship about them and he said that they perform well but had flimsy build quality and all the returns of this model he had were due to physical breakage.

Instead I bought an apacer 128 meg usb mp3 player/flash drive instead and I am rapt with it. Excellent build quality, takes two hours of music encoded at 128 kbps, has a built in voice recorder ( 8 hours worth !), 3 music preset modes, volume, skip ,repeat etc and a nice lcd screen with a decent display. lasts 8 hours on a normal AAA akaline battery. Also serves as a normal USB flash drive. Hell of a lot cheaper than a creative muvo and better featured. Cost me $225

135670 2003-04-14 21:50:00 Sounds very interesting...where did you get it from? That just plugs into USB 1.1? You've just led my investigations in a totally different direction :p

In another thread I was talking about considering the iRiver flash-based player, which I've seen really good reviews of, but it does cost $370 or something in the 128MB version.

135672 2003-04-15 20:46:00 Yes, seems rather strange that would fail to give a name to the product :p

The only MP3 player I could find on QMB's website was the "Targa TMU-306 MP3 player / Voice Recording / USB Memory Flash Disk"...which sounds similar but not the same. And PC Tech's website doesn't have a catalogue...did you visit the store?

135673 2003-04-15 20:51:00 Is the Apacer you're talking about the 'Audio Steno' (apacer.com)?

That player with no name seems very good...pretty much the same as what you described the Apacer as...?
Jack Wass (2351)
135674 2003-04-16 08:51:00 yep thats the one Audio Steno by apacer
It seems that its rebadged under various names but all are identical apart from cosmetic features. Pb tech have only got them in stock recently and they do not update their webpage that often.

135675 2003-04-16 15:28:00 i have had one of these for 6 months now and use it every night at work for 9 and half hours a night
and nothing has gone wrong with it
all i can advise is that you buy some rw discs to go with it
as i have quite a collection of cd's for it now
make sure you recharge your batteries every night as they chew through the batteries but one set of rechargable nimh batteries will play your cd's for 10 hours continuosly
hope this helps and cannot do without mine now
if you are looking to buy one i can get them for $230-00
with batteries and remote

135676 2003-04-23 00:49:00 Been on holiday...thanks for replying people

I think I'm going to go for the Apacer (smaller, no skip, etc) IF I can get hold of it. So far PC Technologies hasn't replied to my email, but I'm gonna try QMB. I spose I'll just have to ring PCT if they don't reply soon.

Thanks
