135996 2003-04-15 10:15:00 I've got internet connection sharing running on home network - 2 PC's both running Win98se. Network is working ok and ICS was working until it came to the firewall.

I'm using Kerio firewall which recognised the LAN and I have allowed ICS full access on any port, however it is still blocking internet access for the machine without the modem. It will allow ICS to dialup and connect but the other pc can't surf the web.

Susan B, I remember reading in another posting that you had ICS and Kerio running together. Tried the option of "gateway" machine that didn't change things. What setting am I missing?

Help please.

135997 2003-04-15 10:29:00 If you go into File > Admin > Firewall > Advanced > Microsoft Networking make sure all the boxes have ticks in them except for "Ask me for access to my shared folders" unless you want that option.

Also go to the Miscellaneous tab and put a tick in "Is running on internet gateway".

See if that helps at all.

135998 2003-04-15 10:48:00 Thanks for the quick reply Susan.

Yes have tried all those things but still have the problem of not being able to surf on the other machine.

If I totally remove Kerio from system ICS will then work again. Don't know what to try next.

At mo am running some proxy software but son isn't happy cos he can't use msn chat with it.

Any other suggestions to try??

135999 2003-04-15 10:58:00 Hmmm, well there must be some setting there that needs enabling but I can't really think what . I am far from being an expert with Kerio and I also use Win XP with Win 98 sharing .

Under the Miscellaneous tab in File > Admin do you have "Enable DNS resolving" ticked?

Also, in the Advanced section again under Microsoft Networking do you have your other computer's IP no . listed in the Trusted Address Group box?

136000 2003-04-15 11:13:00 Hi Susan

Yes have DNS ticked and IP address in the trusted networks.

For a while I was running XP on the main machine and it all worked fine - firewall and all. I gave up on XP (drove me nuts!) and went back to 98.

Maybe it's a Win98 thing and it just can't be done.

136001 2003-04-15 11:37:00 I had the same problem & never got it working.

The interesting thing is when ICS is installed it seems to do some port blocking because according to http://scan.sygate.com my windows filesharing ports (137-139) are no longer open.

136002 2003-04-15 23:08:00 Think I will give up, flag ICS and stick with proxy software. More secure anyway as I can have all ports stealthed instead of just closed when using ICS.

Thanks for your help.
