136542 2003-04-17 13:33:00 Everything seems to be plugged in ok, but when I boot the computer up it won't show anything on the monitor at all. It used to work fine 3-4months ago, and I admit I haven't tried to use this thing since then.

I have had a fiddle round inside since then, I was careful, I pulled the hard drive and cd-rom drive out, to copy the data. I've since put them back in...but I'm no expert with these things.

I don't think I've fried anything and I've tried switching the video card into another slot. These slots are the old old type...pcmcia or something??

Help please people! I need to use this hunk of junk :)

136545 2003-04-17 14:36:00 • = short beep
— = long beep

a "•—" , "••" or a "—•••••••••••••••…"are the only three codes to do with the monitor input
what does it sound like?

136546 2003-04-17 23:51:00 Its more like a long -- beep then it makes about 10*** beeps after that

136548 2003-04-18 00:45:00 Remove and then reinsert the video card - in another slot if necessary Merlin (503)

136550 2003-04-18 04:13:00 check cable pins - if no change . . .

exchange for a working video card - if no change . . .

exchange for a working monitor - if no change . . .

toss the motherboard out

use existing monitor on a working computer - if no change toss the monitor . . .

install existing video card in a working monitor - if no change toss the video card . . .

136551 2003-04-18 06:18:00 I've tried it on different monitors and its definitely not them because they both work fine.

Could it be anything to do with the power/ide cables going to the hard drive and cdrom at all??? those were they only things that I have messed with.
