136495 2003-04-17 08:37:00 Hiya

I have three PC's networked via ICS . The main PC is win XP Pro . The secondary PC's are win98se and win95 .

The secondary PC's can access the net thru the main PC, but cannot access any Xtra pages . This is the main xtra . co . nz page, along with anything else beginning in www . xtra . Any other site appears to be accessible .

This is the case whether I have a firewall running or not .

I have looked in the settings and there are no sites in the restricted zones .

My main PC has no problems accessing any Xtra pages .

All other ICS settings and file sharing work ok . Has anyone else struck this?

Thanks

J

136496 2003-04-17 10:14:00 Do your secondary P.C's have the correct Gateway, & DNS settings? If you are using DHCP try configuring the I.P adddresses manually. Failing that consider running your shared connection through a proxy program such as Proxy+, and setting up that configuration in Internet Explorer.

Hope this helps,
Ashley

136497 2003-04-17 10:24:00 Their web site is probably broken now, same as jetstream and email server was. wotz (335)
136498 2003-04-17 10:30:00 I am also a network with ICS & i can get to the xtra website ok. stu140103 (137)
136499 2003-04-17 10:30:00 Hi Ashley

I have configured the secondary PC's to obtain IE connection details automatically . I don't/haven't touched any DHCP settings . Seems strange that it is blocking Xtra and nothing else (that I have come across anyway) .

I wonder if it is because my IP address is showing as my local IP address (as indicated when I run the GRC . com shields up test on the secondary PCs) and Xtra won't let the connection through .

Wotz:

Xtra works fine on this PC, as does Jetstream . :)

136500 2003-04-17 12:33:00 Are you on JetStream or DialUp? Ashley Matthews (550)
136501 2003-04-17 12:51:00 hiya Ashley

I am on Jetstream, using an USB external modem. The same thing happens using dial up though ... I just tried using my FreeNet dial up account - and Xtra is still blocked.

I think I will just not access Xtra from the other PC's. Not really that much of an issue but it does bug me lol.

Thanks

J.

136502 2003-04-18 02:59:00 Yeah thats probably the easiest way.

The only other solution i can think of is rather time consuming, that being Bridging the Jestream connection to your lan connection and manually entering your ip settings

136503 2003-04-18 04:16:00 Alternatively use a third party ICS agent.
I recommend sygate or proxy+
