136563 2003-04-17 22:58:00 We have been looking at the "SERVICE TERMS", and if we are correct, under section 14, it looks as if,( with Xtra Value Pack ) we will have to pay EXTRA to XTRA for networking. Poppa J has got it all set up for us, and it's great....BUT, not at more cost! :_| :_| ?:| Maryann (2010)
136564 2003-04-17 23:30:00 Hi Maryann (and Poppa J)

I'm not sure that applies if you are sharing one connection over a private network because that should only require one logon. The second user would not need to logon separately. I am just thinking this through, so I could be wrong, however my first impression is that the Xtra condition you quote covers two persons logging on over separate lines.

No doubt somebody with direct experience of this will post some definitive info for you soon.

Cheers

136565 2003-04-17 23:40:00 Reading those terms, www.xtra.co.nz I would agree with Billy. I would just carry on and not worry. Terry Porritt (14)
136566 2003-04-18 00:46:00 I agree, I have 4 PCs networked, and ONE connection to Xtra.

Irrespective of thr number of PCs accessing the Xtra connection, they are ALL using the ONE logon and ONE connection from my network to Xtra.

The Xtra charges would only apply if EACH PC was connecting on DIFFERENT phonelines at the same time.

You have ONE connection, ONE phoneline and you just share the data over your network.

If I was to access Xtra using my Login from another place, while my Network connection is still active at home, then I would (and do) get charged an extra $2.50 per hour.

136567 2003-04-18 00:53:00 There's a little network that i look after that is connected by a single dial-up connection with xtra on a 24/7 basis. There are 4 computers on the network. This is not a problem.
