136484 2003-04-17 08:04:00 I have just got my computer back from the computer shop which put Windows XP down again. I now don't have a start button, start menu or task bar. How do I restore these?

I cannot put Windows back down myself because Windows jams up when it comes to installing the Sata Drive. (Seagate Barracuda V on an Asus P4S8X Motherboard)

I am a newbie with XP and so far my experiences with it have been frustrating and unpleasant

136486 2003-04-17 08:14:00 If you hover your mouse at the bottom of the screen, does the tasbar/start button reappear? If it does, hover so it pops up and then right-click on it, select properties and remove the tick beside "auto-hide the task bar" - then click OK and Apply.

136487 2003-04-17 09:18:00 Thanks, I have found it. For some reason it had been pushed off the bottom of the screen. Now to sort out the task bar, which is in a jumble BruceB (3482)
