It can get annoying with the pop up tool tip showing everytime a networked PC is turned on or off, and as you discovered, confuses easily with the dial up Networking Icon. To turn it off - Start / Settings / Control Panel / Network Connections. Or right click the icon and select Open Network Connections Right click your Local Area Connection and select Properties. Take the tick off 'Show Icon in Notification Area When Connected' Apart from that, hover your mouse over the icon by the clock before right clicking and disconnecting, to ensure you have the right one. (yes, scary as it is) If you really want it to stay there, you may like to 'hide' that particular icon, so it only shows if you click the arrow that points to the left, by the sys tray and clock. To do this, right click a blank area of the sys tray. Select properties Ensure a Tick is in the Hide Inactive Icons box Click Customize Click the drop-down box next to your Local Network Icon and select Always Hide Click OK, Click OK J. :D |
