136767 2003-04-19 03:58:00 Ten Thumbs Typing Tutor - on the recent Netguide CD. Don't remember if it's freeware or shareware. It's 6mb or so, but I haven't used it before.

If you're willing to spend a bit of money, I think Mavis Beacon is quite good, but I have also used Ultrakey, which was good. They both cost money however.

136768 2003-04-19 04:19:00 Try Simtel (http://www.simtel.net/). Just type "Windows typing tutor" in the search box to find heaps of typing tutor programs to download (some Freeware). Rod J (451)

136770 2003-04-22 00:56:00 i teach typing at WelTec's free computing course using Typing Master - not my decision to do so, but it seems to be ok, I've seen some of our more enthusiastic students go from never turning a computer on in their life to typing almost as fast as me (flat keyboard - 70wpm 98% accuracy, ergo keyboard - 110wpm 97% accuracy - i learnt on ergo's which explains the difference)

otherwise its easy to go and pickup mavis beacon from the warehouse for ~$20 or so

136771 2003-04-22 13:40:00 I'd have to say that Typing Master is really good as well. Had a play with the 2002 version. Very nice IMO. -=JM=- (16)
136772 2003-04-22 13:41:00 Also another great way to learn to type better (well faster anyway) is to leave assignments to the last minute ;) -=JM=- (16)
