137059 2003-04-19 23:02:00 I have recently acquired some older desktops with 4gb Maxtor HDD, I use fdisk to display - 'no partitions defined', I then Create and set active the maximum size of drive, it does it too quick without the verifying count up to 100%? Then when I restart and go back to fdisk to display - only 50% of drive in use, this has done it on more than one machine with same hardware. I can't believe that it has exactly 50% of bad disk? Is it likely to be bad disks?

Any ideas appreciated.

Oh I am now thinking possibly NTFS? That would effect fdisk?

137060 2003-04-19 23:14:00 What version of FDisk are you using? FDisk from Win95 or earlier won't detect large disk sizes (larger than 2gb ;)), so 50% would be about right.

137062 2003-04-20 01:04:00 use FAT32 File system or "Large Hard-Drive" Partitions or if your system doesn't support FAT32 make two or more partitions. Dylan (800)
