| 136983 | 2003-04-19 09:28:00 | Which is the best way to turn off your computer. I have a dial-up connection. Someone tells me (i have windows xp home) that its through the start button on taskbar but the person who installed it said turn off each button on screen / monitor and wall. Any ideas?? ?:| Thanks |

The ATX power supply has extra features to the older AT supply which had a "hard" power on/off switch as opposed to the current "soft" power switches connected to the motherboard. Power to the board is left on so that features in the BIOS such as Wake on LAN, or Wake on Ring can be activated by a signal to cause the PC to wake up and power on. It's quite OK to switch everything off from a master switch which is what I do. |
