Dont do it. Havent read the entire thread,so shoot me if im just repeating stuff. but.clean up your os.Dump all your temp files and other rubbish, fine tune your registry.Uninstall crap programs and any that were installed round the time of the trouble starting. Install cpucool and keep an eye on your cpu temperture,is it running hot? Try setting safe defauts within your bios. Take out your ram leaving one stick installed and see if the problem remains,Tryu again with another stick if it does. Put in a new psu,ive seen 400w babies for 40 bucks......... |

Maybe your problem is that the card is overheating and creating problems. Another problem may also be that the AGP card is not properly seated in the slot. Try reseating it. |

| 137471 | 2003-05-18 04:28:00 | wait...Theres more. If you think its related to the video card, run detornator destroyer to complety remove any traces of the drivers, then re-install a freshly downloaded set. Or...underclock the video card ,if that fixes it,replace the card. Or..........disable fastwrites.. And,run a complete scandisc(with surface scanning) and do a defrag. And,How is your swapfile set up?.....go change it to system managed if you have attempted to tweak it. And,Get rid of any crap running in the background.Disable any antivirus program while running games.. My fingers are tired and ive doubt ive helped....but at least my coffee has gone cold........ |

I am NOT going to do it myself; I am going to get my dad to do it for me Who know a bit about computer & builds them as well........ > Havent read the entire thread,so shoot me if im just > repeating stuff. > > but.clean up your os.Dump all your temp files and > other rubbish, fine tune your registry.Uninstall crap > programs and any that were installed round the time > of the trouble starting. I all ways clean out my temp folder every few weeks or so & I do not have any crap programs installed. > Install cpucool and keep an eye on your cpu > temperture,is it running hot? Where can I get cpucool????? Below things I am going Not to touch, because if I do my dad will not be too happy :( Especially, if I break something . I do not think it will be my RAM, like I said it my other post on this thread that most of the parts inside of my computer are not that old only a few months or so..... > Try setting safe defauts within your bios. > > Take out your ram leaving one stick installed and see > if the problem remains,Tryu again with another stick > if it does. > > Put in a new psu,ive seen 400w babies for 40 > bucks......... |

| 137473 | 2003-05-18 04:48:00 | Doesnt matter how old your parts are, they can fail at anytime, ram can go bad,a psu can start giving intermitent supply,a fan can slow down and cause your cpu to over heat. Adding new components can overtax a powersupply. If your dad knows about puters then he should realise that swapping the harddrive into another system will not test the os,just tax it. |

I do not think that might be the problem, because I only had my computer on for 5-10 mins & it happened. Then the 2nd time it happened (20 or so mins after I started up the pc) I when in to the bios & had a look at the Temperatures System Temperature 29 C/ 84 F CPU Temperature 40 C / 104 F |

The motherboard, which is in my pc at the moment, is my 2nd one & it needs replacing again because the onboard graphics when on the blink. > ram can go bad,a psu can start giving > intermitent supply,a fan can slow down and cause your > cpu to over heat. > > Adding new components can overtax a powersupply. > > If your dad knows about puters then he should realise > that swapping the harddrive into another system will > not test the os, But it is worth it, I only have two options 1. Reformat & loess win ME & Get XP, which I hate!! 2. Swap the hdd around & see if it is the hardware or OS > just tax it. What do you mean just tax it???? |
