1335103 2013-04-02 07:26:00 .......the procedure entry point_except_handler4_common could not be located in the dynamic link library MSVCRT.dll. I am getting this error message after the desktop has loaded. I've a HP Desktop with Windows XP SP3.
Sunday I uninstalled my HP Printer with Revo and then installed a new Canon MX436. I followed the install guide carefully and the printer is working ok. Monday the RUNDLL32.EXE error message started showing up. I've scanned with Malwarebytes,Spybot, Avast and Superantiyspyware- they were all ok. As always, I'd appreciate any help.

1335104 2013-04-02 07:56:00 This may help support.microsoft.com

Its not any type of infection.

Edited, doing a search for "the procedure entry point_except_handler4_common could not be located in the dynamic link library MSVCRT.dll" all lead to the same article linked above as an answer that appears to work.

1335105 2013-04-03 02:00:00 Thanks wainuitech. I also found a youtube clip which guides you through the same procedure as in the microsoft support link you gave. Windows was preinstalled so I don't have a CD just Restore disks and Recovery Tools disks. Can you help further or with my limitations would it be best to have someone come and fix it. bellbird (6169)
1335106 2013-04-03 03:52:00 The file you need is in the i386 folder, so being preinstalled, it "should" be there already but on the C drive, may be in a hidden folder.

Don't know if the Recovery Tools disks will allow you to boot into the recovery console, depends on what type of recovery CD's they are.

If the i386 is on the Drive, you can always download the XP recovery Console from This site here (forums.pcpitstop.com) - its a ISO file bit over 7MB, only the boot/recovery console of XP, so you cant install from it.

The problem is though you may be refused access to the C drive in command prompts, it can be a bit fussy like that. Hence the need for a XP CD.
