What if I told you that you don't actually need a Twitter account to view people's tweets?

1310212 2012-11-04 20:12:00 Its a great idea, but it won't fly.
Some serious people could not raise the cash
And the US government would not allow it with Kim Dot Com as a principal.
And how can you charge businesses but not private people ?
So many of us are small businesses these days.

1310213 2012-11-04 20:40:00 Well right now businesses are being charged as-is, and the rates are significantly higher than what would be proposed under this new type of model.
If anything I'd have thought you'd be excited. Significantly cheaper at home, significantly cheaper at work, what more could you want? The same current model?!

Serious people didn't have the kinds of pushing / negotiating power he does, he's keen to get me.ga to be hosted partially from within NZ, expecting multiple terabits of data transfer to be utilized before long. That's pushing power to say to the rest of the world, via this new cable, "If you want what NZ has hosted, for free, then we want what you have hosted, for free".

I'd suggest if anything he's in a pretty damn fine spot right about now to be doing that kind of negotiating! It's estimated that MegaUpload accounted for up to 4% of *all* internet traffic. That's amazing!

1310214 2012-11-04 20:49:00 ^^ I'll second the previous two posts!

Agreed, and you'd get three times the PM for the money as well!

Now if only he could leap tall buildings at a single bound, we'd be made...

Cheers

1310215 2012-11-04 20:51:00 As I've said before, he is an intelligent gent, so who knows?
The vested interests may raid him again or do other, underhanded stuff, to try to suppress
his (and your) internet freedom though, of course. :(

Good luck to the guy, I say!

So many of us are small businesses these days.Ha, been happening for years already. An example is businesses having to pay for every phone call which you dont do at home.

Everyone thinks "businesses can afford it". When in reality they cant and so have to pass on the costs to the customer inflating prices. One of the many reasons things are so expensive in NZ.

1310217 2012-11-04 21:41:00 Yeah considering NZ business is over 90% "small business", you'd think they'd jump at the opportunity for a better, faster, more reliable connection, with significantly more data transfer, for less money? I would personally at least? If it was me I'd be saying "HECK YES YOU GO KIM!" rather than being so negative.

Just saying ;)

1310218 2012-11-04 21:45:00 I find it hard to believe people are puting much weigh in to a two line tweet.

The more frightening thing is that if he were to host MegaUpload from NZ he would saturate our international link, and any broadband that was left for us all would be slooooow broadband.

Far more sense in basing the company here, but the servers still overseas in some country that is happy to put a finger in the air to America... so there's still about a third of the world open to him for servers. He doesn't need us, but might like to milk our remorse for previous wrongdoings against him, as our authorities and politicians will be far more cautious regards doing anything that might impact him, for fear of him making an issue of wrongful arrest, wrongful seizure, wrongful donation reporting, faulty memories of political partners... he makes the cops look like puppets of Hollywood and the pollys like chumps who will whore themselves for loose change.

That's probably why he'd want the 2nd connection
