1309539 2012-10-30 08:47:00 I often see [insert vehicle type of choice here] ignore red lights or stop signs at intersections. Fixed that for you.... johcar (6283)

1309543 2012-10-30 10:09:00 Yeah it's just "a complete stop", no time-frame specified. Provided your vehicle has come to a complete stop, you can move off again once you have verified it is safe to do-so (I'm unsure if it's compulsory to look both ways, but logic dictates you should). 1309544 2012-10-30 20:00:00 Stop means stop. Hardly rocket science and it would be longer than 3 seconds even in an auto car. Cyclists are the worst I give them the horn and fingers when the ride straight through. I have an over whelming urge then to smash them off their bike when I catch up to them and they sure dont get their 750mm car to bike separation.
I wish people caught for not stopping at stops signs lost their licence for life.
For buses I ring the company with bus number time and intersection.

I wouldn't dare not stop at a stop sign on my bike, because cars sometimes don't, and I'm small and squishy and break more readily than a big tin can.

1309546 2012-10-30 20:21:00 Tell the police to go to corner MacKelve Street & Crummer Road (Ponsonby) (a popular intersection) traffic coming from Willamson Avenue NEVER stop at that Stop sign unless there is traffic on Crummer road, even the courier and truck drivers dont know what Stop signs are for.

I once suggested that every "crime watch" program on TV should briefly cover just one road rule per episode, it would not take more than a couple of minutes The way some drivers drive are criminal

1309547 2012-10-30 20:24:00 I got a ticket for that omce, years ago....he said I paused rather than stopping. He was right, but jeez, no traffic for miles...pause...stop...hmmm.

Yeah that sucks. check out the scenery....

Edit: Good idea Frank

1309548 2012-10-30 21:53:00 Hmm, cops must have different ways of defining it then.
Mine was stopped, foot on brake, car not moving forward.
However I was told I paused.....
Pause? So how long must you sit then?
